MAX RM Dashboard Release – New Features Coming Soon!

Dear Customers,

We’re pleased to share details of the next MAX RemoteManagement Dashboard release, with several significant feature enhancements.

Here’s a summary of what’s coming next!

User Passcode Reset

We have made a significant enhancement to User Password Management with an update to User Settings, as previously shared to give plenty of notice in advance of this change. Some of the main benefits of the passcode security enhancements include:

  • Users can reset their own password – more convenient
  • No administrator assistance required – less admin
  • Centrally reset passwords without specifying one – more secure
  • Log into the Advanced Monitoring Agent with Dashboard credentials – no need to change your Primary Access Key

This is the latest in a series of security enhancements that includes two factor authentication, the option to set a session time-out, automatic lockout on consecutive login errors, and more rigorous password criteria, many of which were requested and discussed on IdeaFactory and here. Thanks for all your input!

Upgrade From Asset Tracking

Up to now, you could only apply a “Monitoring Installation Template” when a device was first added. With the new “Upgrade from Asset Tracking” feature, you’ll be able to upgrade devices on MAV-only plans or those without checks (i.e. “Asset Tracking Only” devices) with just a couple of clicks, instead of having to manually add each check to each device.

This is a first update in an ongoing effort to address a major customer request as discussed on IdeaFactory. We’re already working on our next update to make this feature even better, so stay tuned. In the meantime, here are a few screenshots to guide you through:

  • (1) Right-click one or multiple devices that don’t have any monitoring checks to bring up the context menu, then select “Upgrade from Asset Tracking” (the option will be greyed out for devices with monitoring checks).

  • (2) Select whether you want to run the automated check detection scan or if you want to apply a ready-make check template. Then click OK to proceed (you’ll be prompted to enter your Dashboard password).

  • (3) The checks will start to process. Please note it may take a few minutes. Click refresh on the south pane to see the new checks.

TIP!  You can also use this feature on devices that currently have checks, all you have to do is delete the existing checks first (use Shift+Click to select all checks). This makes it much easier to update devices to have the same consistent set of checks for example (4).

Improvements to Agent Auto-Uninstall

We’ve made several improvements to Agent Auto-Uninstall, the most voted-for feature on IdeaFactory.  Right-click a server or workstation and then select Delete (5) to automatically remove the agent and associated feature agents (6).

The improvements to this feature with this release include:

  • Agent removal is now run straight away instead of on the next check cycle, typically removing the agent within minutes
  • It now supports agent removal for agents that were installed using Group Policy
  • A more rigorous removal process ensures service manager time-outs are handled and the Systray entry is fully removed
